Wohlers Associates helps organizations take advantage of technologies and strategies that enhance the rapid product development and manufacturing process.
“Tim has worked tirelessly with me in the background for a long time,” said Terry Wohlers.
FORT COLLINS, COLORADO, USA, October 12, 2010—Wohlers Associates, Inc. is pleased to announce a strengthened relationship with Mr. Tim Caffrey, an additive manufacturing industry veteran. Caffrey has worked closely with Wohlers Associates on many projects over a period of more than 10 years. An example is the company’s annual industry study (the current edition is Wohlers Report 2010) that the company has published for 15 years. His role will expand with this publication, as well as with other projects, including a new one involving the development of an additive manufacturing technology roadmap for Australia.
Caffrey is a mechanical engineer and was employed by The Boeing Company and Pratt & Whitney in the 1980s and 1990s. At Boeing, he gained valuable experience in directing the operation of in-house additive manufacturing services. He also wrote and performed pre-flight operational tests for aircraft engines and wrote repair and maintenance processes for aircraft engine components. In the late 1990s, Caffrey served as plant manager of the largest (at the time) additive manufacturing service provider in the world. He brings to Wohlers Associates a precious combination of 15 years of writing experience and an industry-specific technical background.
“Tim has worked tirelessly with me in the background for a long time,” said Terry Wohlers, principal consultant and president of Wohlers Associates. “I give him a lot of credit for his outstanding work on the past several editions of our industry report, as well as CAD textbooks that he and I have worked on together for McGraw-Hill. With his new phase of involvement, Tim will contribute to an expanding range of projects at our company. I am very lucky to be able to work with an individual of his caliber and integrity.”
“I’m elated at this opportunity to work more closely with Terry,” Caffrey said. “We’ve worked together for many years, and that relationship has allowed me to continue my involvement in the additive manufacturing industry. I look forward to contributing more to Wohlers Associates and supporting its prominent role within this technology sector.”
